Mambu Pulls in $8.7 Million to Replace Core Banking

Mambu Pulls in $8.7 Million to Replace Core Banking

MambuHomepage

Mambu, creator of a cloud-based SaaS banking platform, raised $8.7 million (€8 million) this week. Combined with the $1.5 million the company picked up in February 2013, its funding now tops $10.6 million.

The round was led by Acton Capital Partners and CommerzVentures; existing investors also contributed.

Mambu CEO Eugene Danilkis speaks to the purpose of the new investment:

We are building out the product and onboarding customers in multiple geographies. We are excited that this new capital will allow us to deploy faster, and to better support our global client base as we continue to enable the next generation of banking service providers.

In more specific terms, Mambu plans to use the funds to:

  • Expand its commercial team
  • Increase investment into the platform
  • Open additional offices to support growth in Asia and the Americas

The Berlin-based company showcased its core banking application at FinovateAsia 2013, highlighting its holistic approach that helps banks of any size create and service loan and deposit products. Founded in 2011, Mambu seeks to replace core banking by offering faster access to technology at a lower cost.

Over the past year, Mambu has added 30+ new customers and has added support for P2P and SME lending methods.

Reparo Loves Mambu: Partnership Brings New Loan Options to UK SMEs

Reparo Loves Mambu: Partnership Brings New Loan Options to UK SMEs

Cloud banking innovator Mambu has been selected by Reparo Finance, an SME business-financing company, to provide a new line of business loans for small to medium companies in the United Kingdom.

Andrew Ward, managing director of Reparo Finance, pointed to the ability to provide financing to “neglected yet viable U.K.-based businesses.” Ward said that “partnering with Mambu has allowed our company to quickly bring more sophisticated loan offerings to market, while offering the necessary expertise and scalability to meet growing customer demand.”

Eugene Danilkis, Mambu CEO, added that his company’s technology would help make it easier for Reparo to develop “new and more accessible loan offerings” to market to the historically underserved small businesses.

Mambu has had a busy 2015. The company announced earlier this month that Ferratum Group selected its technology to power SME lending, and in June added a variety of new features such as multi-account credit arrangements, balloon payments for real estate and auto lending, asset-backed lending, and more. Mambu began the year being named to FinTechCity’s FinTech 50.

Reparo Finance provides SME financing options such as asset-secured loans, that range from 50,000 pounds to 1 million. Terms range from one to 24 months and a lending decision takes only two business days. The company plans to use Mambu to provide greater flexibility when it comes to payment schedules. Reparo was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Founded in December 2011 and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Mambu made its Finovate debut at FinovateAsia 2013 in Singapore.

Finovate Alums Populate the FinTech50

Looking for the most innovative startups in fintech? The FinTech50 is a great place to start.

FinTech50_homepage.jpg
It also turns out to be a great place to find Finovate alums. Of the 50 companies recognized by FinTechCity’s panels of judges as being “game-changers transforming the future of finance,” nearly half are alumni of Finovate conferences – including our upcoming event in London.
Here is the list of alums in alphabetical order:
According to Chris Skinner, who was one of the panelists, more than 700 companies competed for spots in the FinTech50. The selection panel included veterans of finance and technology from companies ranging from American Express and Google to Silicon Valley Bank and UBS. The FinTech50 winners were announced at an invitation-only event in London.
Speaking of London, Five Degrees, InvoiceSharing, Ixaris, mBank, and Trunomi will be in town next month, demonstrating their latest solutions at FinovateEurope 2015, February 10 and 11. More information on the event available here.

With more than 280 companies applying, and 47 companies selected to compete, the Innotribe Startup Challenge is down to the top 15 companies that will move on to the Grand Finale. And six of the companies to advance are Finovate alums.

Sibos

The Innotribe Startup Challenge is part of Sibos, the conference held by SWIFT each year. The goal of the Challenge is to help what the contest categorizes as “startups” and “innovators” get access and exposure to the broader fintech community. Events are held in London, Singapore, and New York during which competing companies pitch their innovations to industry experts and fintech investors.

The Grand Finale will be held on October 1 at Sibos. The winning companies – one “early stage startup” and one “growth-stage innovator” – will receive a prize of $50,000 USD.
The six Finovate alums among the finalists are below.
