Roostify Partners with BOK Financial to Improve the Mortgage Lending Process

Roostify Partners with BOK Financial to Improve the Mortgage Lending Process

BOK Financial, a regional financial services company based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, has teamed up with digital lending platform Roostify to improve the home buying process for customers and give lenders access to technology that will make it easier to process loans.

“The technology investment complements BOK Financial’s increase in purchase loan production across the company’s eight-state retail footprint as well as the consumer direct channel over the past year,” BOK Financial Mortgage President Glenn Brunker said. “The bank is leveraging Roostify’s dynamic technology to deliver a unique offering to both the employee and customer in the different markets and channels. This will affirm our commitment to the implementation of a streamlined digital experience for our customers.”

Crediting the mortgage lending industry for its willingness to “embrace new technology,” Roostify CEO and co-founder Rajesh Bhat said, “This gives BOK Financial’s loan officers the opportunity to better manage an already complicated task of juggling financial documents and progress notifications between multiple parties. Home buyers benefit from a better experience from application to closing.”

The new platform will enable customers to begin an application, add documentation, and follow their loan’s progress online. Loan applicants will be able to securely upload, send, and receive loan documents, as well as provide access to others involved in the transaction – such as their real estate agent. The solution will allow loan officers to spend less time processing paper documents and making repeated follow-ups with customers and instead give them more time “to get the loan into processing much faster and keep it moving forward more easily” in the words of  John Yancey, a loan officer familiar with Roostify’s technology who was quoted in the partnership announcement.

Headquartered in San Francisco, California and founded in 2014, Roostify demonstrated its platform at FinovateSpring 2016. The company’s digital home lending platform helps banks, independent brokerages, and lenders close loans faster, reduce paperwork, and provide a superior, friction-free mortgage experience. Last month Roostify was honored at the MBA Insights 2018 Tech All-Star Awards for its achievements in mortgagetech. In March, the company added Mark McLaughlin as Senior Vice President for Business Development and in February, the company picked up an investment of $25 million, taking its total capital to $33 million. Roostify began the year announcing an integration with online lending marketplace and fellow Finovate alum, LendingTree.

Blend, Roostify Earn Honors at MBA Insights 2018 Tech All-Star Awards

Blend, Roostify Earn Honors at MBA Insights 2018 Tech All-Star Awards

The Mortgage Bankers Association’s annual Insights 2018 Tech-All Stars have been named and this year a pair of Finovate alums  – Blend and Roostify – are among those recognized for their achievements in mortgagetech.

“Technology is driving remarkable innovations and efficiencies in real estate finance,” MBA Vice Chairman Brian Stoffers said. “MBA is pleased to recognize the men and women making significant technological contributions to the mortgage industry.”

Also earning recognition from the MBA at its Technology Solutions Conference & Expo earlier this week were Land Gorilla, Docutech, Notarize, and ReverseVision. The six winners were chosen from a nomination pool of 40 mortgage tech companies, the largest number of nominations since the awards were founded in 2002.

“Our Technology All-Stars are designing tools that disrupt the industry, but also make us smarter,” Stoffers added. “They are the ones providing us both faster and safer mortgage business tools to advance our industry. We call the Tech-All Stars the unsung heroes of the industry because much of what they do takes place behind the scenes – but we could not survive or move forward without them.”

The All-Stars honors were a first for both Finovate alums. Earlier this year, Roostify made fintech headlines when it announced picking up a $25 million investment. The Series B round featured participation from new investors Cota Capital, Point72 Ventures, and Santander Innoventures, as well as existing investors JP Morgan Chase, Colchis Capital, and a subsidiary of USAA, and boosted Roostify’s total capital to $33 million. The company said the funds would be used to expand its presence in the enterprise, pursue product enhancements, and seek opportunities in new markets.

Roostify demonstrated its technology at FinovateSpring 2016, showing how its SaaS solution enables lenders to offer a consumer-focused, mobile-friendly experience for borrowers from application to close. The company began the year with news that it was integrating with online loan marketplace and fellow Finovate alum Lending Tree, and has since added Adnan Habib as Vice President of Engineering and Mark McLaughlin as Vice President for Business Development.

Roostify was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Rajesh Bhat is CEO and co-founder.

Newly named to Forbes Fintech 50 list, mortgagetech innovator Blend was founded in 2012 and is based in San Francisco. The company, which demonstrated its Data-Driven Mortgage solution at FinovateSpring 2016, leverages intuitive design and data-powered intelligence to help lenders originate loans more efficiently and improve customer engagement. By making it easier for home buyers to provide lenders with the right, accurate information and streamlining the follow-up process for lenders, Blend’s platform enables application decisioning within days rather than weeks.

Last fall, GoBankingRates featured Blend in its look at 10 Startups to Watch in 2018 roster, and Forbes profiled the company in a feature titled “Blend Wants to Bring the $2 Trillion Mortgage Market to the Modern Era.” Blend has raised more than $160 million in funding, and has an estimated valuation of $500 million. Nima Ghamsari is CEO and co-founder.

Roostify Lands $25 Million to Disrupt the Mortgage Industry

Roostify Lands $25 Million to Disrupt the Mortgage Industry

Mortgagetech startup Roostify raised $25 million to further its quest to improve the mortgage industry today. The Series B round comes from new investors Cota Capital, Point72 Ventures, and Santander Innoventures, and existing investors JPMorgan Chase, Colchis Capital, and a subsidiary of USAA.

The funding brings Roostify’s total raised to $33 million. The California-based company will use the funds to deepen its presence in the enterprise space, implement product enhancements, and expand into new markets.

Rajesh Bhat, co-founder and CEO of Roostify said that when the company launched four years ago, having a digital strategy was simply an ambition for lenders. Today, digitizing the mortgage process has evolved into a business imperative. “Lenders now realize the value of providing consumers with a transparent, mobile, and seamless experience to obtain a loan without needless stress-inducing delays and red tape. We have developed a solution that allows lenders of all sizes to give their teams a tool to digitally engage with clients and to bring the loan origination experience to the consumer,” Bhat added.

Originally launched as a way to create efficiencies by digitizing the traditionally paper-bound processes, Roostify has evolved into an enterprise scale platform aimed to help U.S. lenders accelerate, simplify, and reduce costs associated with the mortgage origination process. Leveraging its cloud-based API solution, lenders help clients with the entire mortgage process– from searching for the loan to close– via a fully-digital, branded experience. Bobby Yazdani, Cota Capital’s Managing Partner, said his team was “immensely impressed with what Roostify has accomplished in the last four years,” He added,“Roostify has evolved not only their own offering and product focus, but the market as a whole, helping the lending industry transform itself for the digital age.”

Roostify presented at FinovateSpring 2016 where the company demoed account aggregation capabilities for asset verification, as well as integrations with TurboTax and Equifax. Since then, the company has teamed up with Chase to power the bank’s self-service mortgage application process. Last month, Roostify launched an integration with LendingTree that blends LendingTree’s aggregation technology with Roostify’s mortgage digitization. Roostify Integrates with LendingTree

Roostify Integrates with LendingTree

Consumer-focused mortgage digitization platform Roostify integrated with online loan marketplace LendingTree today. The integration leverages LendingTree’s aggregation technology to help consumers find the right loan, while Roostify keeps the mortgage origination process online.

Nikul Patel, Chief Strategy Officer, LendingTree cited a “digital gap” in the mortgage industry, explaining that even though most consumers shop for loans online, the mortgage origination process still takes place offline. “Our integration with Roostify brings the industry one step closer to the all-digital vision for a seamless consumer journey,” Patel said.

Consumers browse mortgages on LendingTree and when they select a lender using Roostify they move seamlessly into the application flow. From the lender’s website, Roostify powers authentication using pre-populated fields and the user can apply for a mortgage using Roostify’s fully online process. The integration will be available in the first quarter of this year for all joint LendingTree-Roostify clients.

“Roostify is dedicated to improving the lending experience for both consumers and lenders,” added Rajesh Bhat, CEO of Roostify. “Partnering with LendingTree, whose mission is to help consumers find the best home loan, helps us achieve both those goals, increasing efficiency and lead quality for lenders while offering consumers a faster, stress-free path to apply for and close a competitively priced home loan.”

This move positions Roostify to better compete with mortgagetech company Sindeo, which takes a B2C approach by enabling consumers to shop 40+ lenders and 1,000+ loan programs on its platform.

Roostify presented at FinovateSpring 2016 where the company’s Nathaniel Sokoll-Ward, Head of Product, and Jonathan Kirst, CTO, showed off integrations with TurboTax, Equifax, as well as account aggregation capabilities for asset verification. About a year ago, the company teamed up with Chase to power the bank’s self-service mortgage application process. In October of last year, Roostify launched a Decision Builder tool to offer lenders a set of visual decision-making tools for borrowers. For more on the mortgagetech sector, check out our industry overview.

Founded in 1998, Lending Tree went public on the NASDAQ in 2000. The company was acquired by InterActiveCorp (IAC) in 2003. At FinovateSpring 2015 the company debuted My LendingTree, a personalization platform with a dashboard to view all credit-related accounts. Last spring the company acquired DepositAccounts.com for $33 million.
