Ethoca to Power Merchant Fraud Alerts for ACI Worldwide

Ethoca to Power Merchant Fraud Alerts for ACI Worldwide

Ethoca, a collaboration network for card issuers and merchants, landed a new client this week. The company has partnered with ACI Worldwide to integrate its flagship service, Ethoca Alerts, into ACI’s UP eCommerce Payments solution, making it globally available to payment service providers (PSPs).

Ethoca Alerts notifies PSPs, processors, acquirers and their merchant clients of issuer-confirmed fraud and customer-dispute data to help them bolster their existing fraud defenses. The protection against chargebacks passively takes place in the background. When a dispute occurs, Ethoca Alerts helps merchants resolve cardholder complaints before they go into the chargeback process and notifies them to stop the shipment of goods to fraudsters.

“Our integration with the ACI UP eCommerce Payments solution makes Ethoca Alerts easily available to more than 130 payment-service providers and thousands of their merchants,” says Ethoca CMO Keith Briscoe. “As we bring onboard more payment providers and top-tier merchants, the overall network effect increases. All participants, including Ethoca’s network of more than 545 card issuers, get more value by reducing fraud losses and eliminating more chargebacks.”

Toronto-based Ethoca was founded in 2005 and last presented at FinovateEurope 2016 in London. Earlier this year the company integrated Ethoca Alerts into the fraud-detection platform, Kount’s Kount Complete.

ACI Worldwide, which took the stage with MShift at FinovateFall 2011, powers electronic payments for more than 5,100 organizations, including 1,000+ financial institutions and intermediaries.

Ethoca Integrates its Alerts Technology into Anti-Fraud Solution Kount Complete

Ethoca Integrates its Alerts Technology into Anti-Fraud Solution Kount Complete

ethoca_homepage_May2016

Looking for a way to celebrate Victoria’s Day? How about a tip of the hat to Toronto-based collaboration technology specialist Ethoca which marked the occasion with news of the integration of its alerts into a fraud-detection platform, Kount Complete.

Describing the integration, Ethoca CMO Keith Briscoe said it would give the merchant customers of both Ethoca and Kount the resources they need to “take their fraud- and chargeback-fighting arsenal to the next level.” Combining Kount’s fraud tools with Ethoca’s fraud-notification technology into a single platform will give merchants a more streamlined experience, Brisco said, including better ability to block both related active orders that may have been fulfilled otherwise, as well as stop future fraudulent transactions.

Pictured (left to right): Harry Corbett, sales director, and Helene Ladjadj, senior manager, issuer relations, EMEA, demonstrated Ethoca Alerts at FinovateSpring 2016.

Kount’s relationship with Ethoca extends back to the latter’s participation in Kount’s Fraud 360 Tour in 2016. Kount COO Rich Stuppy said that the Alerts integration will give Kount merchants more confidence and more protection. He sees the integration as effective “not just against confirmed fraud but against the effects of chargeback processing costs and recovering fraud losses (as well).”

Ethoca isn’t the only fintech Kount is making friends with these days. Kount also announced that the new Simplify Controls e-commerce transaction monitoring app from MasterCard features fraud-scoring functionality from Kount. Also BlueSnap released its Cleanse Report this week, a solution that helps analyze sales traffic behavior for merchants by combining payments data/consumer data from its Buy Platform with consumer data from Kount’s fraud engine.

And Ethoca has been teaming up with other innovators, as well. In March, the company announced a partnership with Pegasystems, giving card-issuing banks access to Ethoca’s Global Collaboration Network to speed resolution of customer service and fraud-related inquiries. And in February, Ethoca and TSYS forged an agreement to work together to combat CNP fraud.

Founded in 2005 and based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ethoca has offices in Austin, Texas; London, France, and Dublin. The company demonstrated its alerts at FinovateSpring 2016 in London. Check out our Finovate Debut feature on the company from January.

International Women’s Day: Celebrating Females in Fintech

International Women’s Day: Celebrating Females in Fintech

WomenOfFintech

One question I’m always asked during a Finovate networking session is, “Why don’t you put more women on stage?” My answer: we don’t dictate the gender of the company’s presenter. We leave that decision up to the company.

This post is to celebrate the fintech industry’s growth of female inclusion. At the first Finovate conference in 2007, there were zero women on stage. Last month, at FinovateEurope 2016, 20% of the companies featured a woman on stage (party on!). Here’s a look at the ladies of FinovateEurope 2016:

While not all of these women are CEOs of their company, each plays a role in removing women from the “endangered species list” of fintech.

While we still have a long way to go, we can all be encouraged by the movement that has already taken place and the global initiatives that have sparked growth. The FemTech Leaders MeetUp, organized by Ghela Boskovich and Michelle Moffatt, has held three successful events this year (I attended the London meetup last month, and the attendance was impressive).

If you’re interested in attending a FemTech leaders event (men are also invited to attend), check out the upcoming meetup in Sydney or RSVP for the meetup in New York after the first day of FinDEVr New York on March 29. It’s less than a 10-minute walk from the venue.

This post wouldn’t be complete without a shoutout to the ladies of Finovate and FinDEVr; the women who help make our events happen (editor’s note: And of course, Julie Schicktanz, the author of this post):

  • Leah Baldwin
  • Dom Marczak
  • Emily Olyarchuk
  • Erika Sanchez
  • Kate Schultz
  • Kate Stolte
  • Heather Stowell
