Asset Manager Amundi Acquires Aixigo in $157 Million Deal
  • Amundi Technology has agreed to acquire aixigo in a deal valued at $157 million.
  • Amundi will leverage the acquisition to strengthen its role as a leading technology and services provider in the asset management space.
  • Aixigo last demoed its technology on the Finovate stage at FinovateFall 2018 in New York.

Amundi Technology, an asset manager based in France, has acquired German wealth management platform provider aixigo. The transaction has been valued at $157 million (€149 million).

The acquisition is designed to help banks and financial institutions integrate technological solutions into their IT infrastructures faster. Adding aixigo will help Amundi develop further as a technology and services provider, enabling the firm to offer a more comprehensive range of services. The acquisition will also expand Amundi’s geographical reach thanks to aixigo’s customer base in Germany, Switzerland, and the U.K.

“Joining Amundi Technology presents aixigo with a unique opportunity to expand our service offerings and leverage Amundi’s expertise, allowing us to become the undisputed European leader before gradually extending our reach into Asia, a vision that perfectly aligns with our values and ambitions,” aixigo CEO Arnaud Picut said.

Founded in 1999, aixigo offers modular, intuitive wealth management technology. The company’s aixigo:BLOXX wealth management platform is a fully customizable solution that enables financial services providers to design wealth management services that fit their specific requirements and preferences. Portfolio analysis and reporting, digital portfolio management, risk management, financial planning, and investment advice are among the features of aixigo’s high-performance, API-based platform.

With a staff of 150, aixigo serves more than 20 clients representing more than $1.05 trillion (€1 trillion) in assets under management. The company reports that 60,000 advisors use aixigo’s technology on a daily basis for everything from client onboarding to report generation. Amundi is a leading European asset manager with 100 million retail, institutional, and corporate clients. A subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Group, Amundi manages $2.3 trillion (€2.2 trillion) in assets.

“With the addition of new expertise, which has already been adopted and recognized by leading financial firms, we will continue to roll out new innovative services, and play an active part in the development of the financial advisory and wealth management sector,” Amundi Chief Executive Officer Valérie Baudson said. “This transaction will create significant value for our clients, partners, and shareholders.”

Headquartered in Aachen, Germany, aixigo made its Finovate debut at FinovateEurope 2017. The company most recently demoed its technology before Finovate audiences at FinovateFall 2018 in New York.

ti&m and aixigo Partner to Digitize Wealth Management

ti&m and aixigo Partner to Digitize Wealth Management

Digitization and innovation company ti&m and wealth management technology provider aixigo have come together in a partnership this week that will help improve and digitize the wealth management experience.

The partnership will combine ti&m’s channel suite with aixigo’s Wealth Management & Investment Advisory platform’s digital suite. The press release highlighted how the flexibility of ti&m’s services are well-suited to enhance aixigo’s platform, noting that “any solution can be designed and integrated “out of the box” into core banking systems.”

“You meet customer expectations in digital competition and at the same time reduce costs per customer. This in turn means that customers are more willing to pay despite regulatory requirements and cost transparency,” said Christian Friedrich, CBO of aixigo. “And in the end, the goal is for the bank to become an integral part of daily digital habits. And it is precisely these added values that we want to bring out into the banking world together with ti&m.”

aixigo most recently demoed at FinovateFall 2018 in New York where it showcased Digital Portfolio Management Backoffice, a tool to manage portfolios flexibly and with a limited workforce. The Germany-based company raised an undisclosed amount of funds in a single private equity round earlier this year.

Aixigo Teams Up with MLP Banking

Aixigo Teams Up with MLP Banking

MLP Banking AG and digital financial consulting software provider, aixigo, have developed a digitally supported portfolio evaluation and optimisation solution, reports Jane Connolly of Fintech Futures (Finovate’s sister publication).

The VEM Guide supports MLP’s wealth management advisory services by transparently modeling possible portfolios with just a few clicks, taking into account customer requirements for risk, return and liquidity.

Risk assessments are then automatically evaluated and updated daily, with forecasts based on economic research by specialists at MLP Group company, FERI Trust GmbH.

“The VEM Guide is a very good example of how personal advice can be meaningfully supplemented by digital service,” said Jakob Trefz, head of wealth management at MLP Banking AG. “In this way, we make our customers’ decisions even faster and at the same time we support our advisors in the best possible way.”

Mario Alves, head of sales and partner management at aixigo, added: “The integration of the aixigo risk engine into MLP’s VEM Guide shows how the needs of clients and advisors in wealth management can be met precisely.”

As well as modeling and implementing portfolios more easily, the software can also generate associated documents and offer a digital customer signature option.

Aixigo demonstrated its Digital Financial Portfolio Management Back Office solution at FinovateFall 2018. The solution enables a small group of advisors to easily manage hundreds of thousands of investment portfolios.

Founded in 1999, aixigo is based in Aachen, Germany.

Germany’s aixigo Forges Strategic Partnership with Synpulse

Germany’s aixigo Forges Strategic Partnership with Synpulse

A strategic partnership that combines the digital wealth management and investment advisory platform of aixigo and the implementation expertise of Swiss consulting firm Synpulse is the latest big development on the European wealth management scene.

The two companies announced a strategic partnership this week that will provide financial service providers in Switzerland and beyond with a digital API platform that is fast, flexible, and has what the company called “mass suitability.” aixigo’s platform offers more than 100 API-based services, delivering value-added digital services to branches as well as via mobile devices. The solution can provide large volumes of raw data for legacy systems, and then refine the data quickly at scale without regard for the client’s underlying core banking system.

Left to right: Marcus Grundler (Head of Portfolio Management Systems) and Mario Alves (Head of Sales & Partner Management) demonstrating aixigo’s Digital Financial Portfolio Management Back Office solution at FinovateFall 2018.

aixigo CEO Erich Borsch underscored the need for speed when it comes to providing services in wealth management. “(The) attention span of clients in the digital age continues to decline,” he said. “So the goal must be to get at least two minutes of attention a day from the client. And you can only do that if you can offer relevant information extremely quickly, digitally, and attractively.”

Banks are as much a beneficiary of faster, more flexible solutions as customers are, Borsch added. And by meeting customer expectations in the digital realm, he said, it is easier “for the bank to become an integral part of daily digital habits.”

Synpulse Managing Partner Raphael Jung explained the importance of aixigo’s technology in a world of open banking and open APIs. He said, “In order to be able to use this potential for digital offers in asset management and investment advisory as well, a system is needed that records all relevant data at high speed and makes it available again in a redefined form – an API platform.”

Headquartered in Aachen, Germany, and founded in 1999, aixigo demonstrated its Digital Financial Portfolio Management Back Office solution at FinovateFall 2018. The technology enables wealth managers to leverage relatively small staffs to manage hundreds of thousands of investment portfolios quickly and efficiently.

Aixigo Relaunches Digital Portfolio Management System

Aixigo Relaunches Digital Portfolio Management System

Digital wealth manager investify has a new high performance portfolio management system courtesy of its partnership with Germany’s aixigo. The system, accessible via API, features a variety of enhancements that make it easier for the portfolio to intake and manage large data sets from legacy systems, quickly refine them, and make the data available to all customer systems.

With nearly 100 services, the API provides digital wealth managers with the necessary processes and functions for high-volume business, enabling the platform to serve both average and wealthy customers. And as a REST API, the technology supports innovation from financial services providers looking to further develop their digital customer journeys with apps, chatbots, or voice interfaces. For its part, investify will take advantage of the portfolio analysis, monitoring, and reporting services available through aixigo’s solution.

“The speed and mass suitability of the module enables an extremely scalable portfolio analysis, which is crucial for digital asset management,” founder and managing director of investify, Sebastian Hasenack said. “Moreover, it is a decisive advantage of investify for high volume B2B cooperation in the banking and insurance sector.”

“The aixigo high performance portfolio API is based on five basic principles that we have not invented but consistently apply,” Fabian Budde, aixigo Head of Customer Projects, added. “To make the data quickly available, it is stored in an in-memory database. We use so-called cache-oblivious algorithms to reduce processor waiting times.”

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Aachen, Germany, aixigo demonstrated its Digital Financial Portfolio Management Backoffice at FinovateEurope 2018. The company is also an alum of our developers conference. Aixigo Head of Portfolio Management Systems Marcus Gruendler presented Digital Wealth Management with APIs at FinDEVr London 2017 last summer.

In June, aixigo’s wealth management technology won the Outstanding Front-End Digital Solutions Provider (Vendor) category of the Private Banking Conference & Awards. Last fall, the company was honored with the Banking IT-Innovation award from the Business Engineering Forum of the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Luxembourg-based investify demonstrated its online advisory technology at FinovateEurope 2016. The solution not only guides users through the process of determining personal financial goals, but also makes it easy for a customer to open an investment account at the same time. The B2C company has 15 employees and has raised more than €2 million in funding.
