Ever since the first UPC barcode printed on a pack of chewing gum was scanned at a supermarket checkout, trillions of barcodes have been printed on loyalty cards, gift cards, coupons, tickets and other everyday items.
Mobile wallet applications have tried to eliminate the need to carry physical cards & coupons by displaying the barcode on the screen. However, laser scanners found at most retail terminals are unable to scan the barcode off the screen, resulting in a frustrating experience.
Mobeam’s unique “beaming” technology enables smartphones to present barcodes to any scanner, making mobile wallets capable of replacing plastic and paper.
