Skype, an Internet-based telephone system, says it’s using GlobalCollect as its payments processor. GlobalCollect will process local bank-transfer payments in local currencies worldwide, including real-time online bank transfers in countries where that is possible. VeriFone Holdings Inc.says it landed a five-year contract from GE Consumer Finance’s Retail Sales Finance unit to supply GE as many as 20,000 units of its Vx Solutions payment systems per year. Separately, VeriFone says the People’s Bank of China certified VeriFone’s Vx Solutions payment products as meeting the bank’s standards for chip card payment acceptance, a localized version of EMV for domestic bank cards.
