How they describe themselves: WorkLight was established in order to change the way people communicate internally and with customers, whether it is in retail banking, investment firms, financial consulting and risk assessment or any other financial services company.

WorkLight’s retail banking and financial services software enables customers to securely access banking information and collaborate and interact with banking professionals via the same simple and familiar services they use at home. This includes tools like RSS, personalized homepages, social networks, instant messaging, bookmarking services and more. Our unique customer-facing Web 2.0 application is changing the way retail banks communicate with customers.

What they think makes them better: WorkLight allows customers to securely access personal finance data via consumer tools, such as RSS, personalized homepages (e.g. iGoogle, Netvibes), widgets and gadgets, instant messaging, social networking, bookmarking, etc. Currently, there are no publicly available tools that provide the following requisite enterprise-grade functionality: transformation of account data application to easily consumable formats; Web 2.0 security safeguards with strong authentication, encryption and access control; scalability of service to millions of customers, without huge loads on back-end systems; meticulous audit controls; social networking between customers and banking professionals via Facebook for seeking out expertise with strict corporate security and regulatory prerogatives.
