Temenos has just picked up another bank: KBC Bank Ireland has signed up for both the company's core banking system, T24, as well as Temenos' Insight Business Intelligence Suite.

Deployment of T24 will help the bank focus on more personalized customer service and on delivering innovative banking products, according to KBC Bank Ireland Chief Executive Wim Verbraeken. The move is part of a broader rollout that includes providing full online and mobile banking capability to its retail customers.

Among the selling points of T24 was the platform's "product-building capability." In the words of Jean-Michel Hilsenkopf, Temenos Regional Director for Europe, this will allow KBC Bank Ireland to bring new financial products to market quickly "without the need to write bespoke code."

Temenos_homepage.jpg
KBC Bank Ireland is one of the largest banks in Ireland. The bank reported total retail deposits of €2.9 billion - a year over year increase of €0.8 billion - and added more than 7,000 new customer accounts in the last three months of Q3 (quarter ending September 2013). KBC Bank Ireland has more than 700 employees and is headquartered in Dublin. New branches were opened recently in Limerick and Galway.

Courtesy of African reseller, Global Solutions, three financial institutions in Ghana will be deploying Temenos T24 core banking software.

The announcement further distinguishes Temenos as one of the leaders in bringing banking innovation to sub-Saharan Africa. Currently more than 90 banks based in Africa are running software from Temenos.

Scalability and the capacity to work with new and existing functionality, including mobile functionality, are among the reasons cited by the various FIs in choosing Temenos to replace their legacy banking systems. Current systems in Ghana suffer from a lack of integration and redundancy, making administering the systems costly, complicated and vulnerable to downtime.

The institutions adding T24 are:

Provides personal and small business lending. Founded in 1995 as a licensed non-bank financial institution.

Among the oldest non-bank financial service companies in Ghana. Founded in 1991 and provides lending and asset management services.

Incorporated in 2011, the Royal Bank Limited operates under a universal banking license and provides accounts, savings, and investment services.

The growing middle class in Ghana is driving the demand for better financial services. Based on a report from the African Development Bank, Ghana's middle class stands at 46% of the population, more than the continent-wide average of less than 34%. Additionally, half the potential bank customers in urban areas of the country remain unbanked, according to a national study.

Temenos unveiled its latest IT solution for banks: Temenos Integrated Framework, designed to help banks better integrate new technologies into their existing systems.

The company announced the platform's general availability this week, and have been highlighting its recent deployment by the Commercial Bank of Africa (CAB). • Attracted more than 30,000 new customers a day on average in the first 100 days
  • Gained more than 1 billion Kenyan shillings in deposits in one month.
  • Attracted 1 million customers after 41 days
  • Onboarded more than three million customers by April 2013
M-Shwari was developed in partnership with Safaricom, an integrated African communications company, and Vodafone. Read more about the program, which aims to bring savings and loans programs to Kenyan adults, here.

Coming to the stage now is Temenos. The company will be showing an innovative way to build and design dynamic applications pages:

"edgeConnect is the industry's most dynamic user experience platform (UXP). edgeConnect provides a single, consistent platform that enables superior user experiences to be delivered across multiple distribution channels, for any product, any user, in any language and optimized for each device.

A major new editor within edgeConnect called 'Live Designer' is a game changer in application design. It allows designers to change the look and feel, layout and behavior while an application is executing, so that they can make changes and see the effects of dynamic application pages prior to live deployment."
