After an impressive 2011, where more than $423 million was raised, 2012 was even better, with more than $450 raised.
A few stand-out metrics for the year:
- A total of 44 companies received funding, some more than once in 2012
- Combined, more than $450 million was raised
- The best quarter for raising capital was the first quarter when more than $150 was raised
- The biggest funding month this year was March, with more than $68 million raised by three companies

HelloWallet receives $12 million in funding.

 Washington, D.C.-based HelloWallet, a subscription PFM service, recently announced it received $12 million in Series B funding from Morningstar and TD Fund. The Washington Business Journal reports: "The largest chunk of the new capital came from Chicago-based Morningstar Inc., which invested $6.75 million. District-based TD Fund put in $4 million, with some other existing and new investors filling out the Series B round."

 Subscription-based PFM, HelloWallet, announced yesterday that it donated 20,000 free subscriptions to its PFM service in 2011: "As part of their charitable mission to give away 1 free subscription for every 5 sold, online financial guidance company HelloWallet announced today that they have donated 20,000 free subscriptions to community organizations that serve families in need across the country in 2011..."
