For alternative payments network Dwolla, life is about finding ways around the traditional, slow ACH system. In a new development today, the company announced that it is launching Next Day Transfers.

The new service aims to help SMBs replace paper checks, mitigating the estimated $13 billion spent annually on paper check operations. The Next Day Transfer service will reduce bank transfers in and out of the Dwolla network to as little as two business days.

    Dwollanextdayxfers

    Here are the highlights:

      • Deposits to Dwolla are three times faster
Qualifying business, nonprofit, and government accounts can receive transfers from a bank account to their Dwolla account three times faster than a typical ACH transfer.
      • Next-day bank withdrawals
For all users, transfers from a Dwolla account to their financial institution may be transacted as soon as the next day.
      • Dwolla-to-Dwolla transfers are still instant.

To facilitate SMB's conversion to digital money transfers, the Iowa-based payments startup is also providing a Business Payments Toolkit, which aims to offer a turnkey solution to help companies switch from paper checks to Dwolla's API.

Alternative payments company Dwolla took another step into the credit arena this week. Its recently-announced partnership with Alliance Data Systems resulted in the creation of a new credit service called Dwolla Credit.

It previously dabbled in the credit space with the launch of Instant two years ago. Instant is an opt-in feature that, for a monthly subscription of $3, lends users up to $5,000 for one month with no interest.

Through the recent partnership, the Des Moines-based startup will offer consumers and merchants a cardless credit product. Dwolla Credit users can spend advanced funds at any of the 40+ (and growing) ecommerce merchants in Dwolla's online "Storefront."

When shopping at participating Storefront merchants, Dwolla Credit users will be able to simply select the "Pay with DWOLLA" button, login, and complete their purchase. Transactions will cost merchants Dwolla's traditional fee (25 cents per transaction, or free for transactions $10 and under). Merchants will receive funds instantly in their Dwolla account.

    DwollaZady.jpg

Dwolla Credit is currently in beta, but users can request to be put on the wait list. The product will be available to the general public in early 2014.

Product development and building partnerships with retailers are at the top of the To-Do List for mobile payment innovator, Zooz, as the company announces the conclusion of a productive round of venture capital funding.

The $2 million in capital from XSeed and others puts Zooz's total capital raised at $3.5 million. The company raised $1.5 million in seed funding in January 2012.

Zooz's payment platform is designed to help merchants improve and get more out of the transactions that go through their websites and mobile apps. The company's solution provides one tap checkout, actionable analytics that provide merchant-specific suggestions, and "device-centric" security and fraud prevention.

Zooz currently has partnerships with companies like MasterCard and First Data, as well as with Finovate alumni like Dwolla, Klarna, and PayPal. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Israel, Zooz is led by co-founders Oren Levy (CEO) and Ronen Morecki (CTO).
