Privakey Unveils Single Sign-On Solution for Enterprises

Privakey Unveils Single Sign-On Solution for Enterprises
  • Authentication platform Privakey has launched its Single Sign-On (SSO) solution, Privakey SSO.
  • The new offering enables enterprises to leverage passwordless authentication and authorization.
  • Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Privakey made its Finovate debut at FinovateFall 2017 in New York.

Passwordless authentication solution provider Privakey launched its Single Sign-On (SSO) solution last week. Designed for enterprises, Privakey SSO responds to the demand for passwordless authentication as cybercriminals leverage social engineering to take advantage of traditional password-based systems.

“Privakey SSO is designed for speed and simplicity in both implementation and user experience,” company CEO Charles Durkin explained. “Small and medium-sized businesses can have Privakey SSO up and running within hours. Large enterprises benefit from a single, highly secure passwordless gateway to authorized applications and services.”

The new offering leverages a strong cryptographic authenticator to incorporate biometric data, PIN, and passkey for both authentication and authorization. Users supply the biometric or PIN, and a device-based secure passkey provides an additional layer of security by verifying the user’s identity as initially registered. Privakey SSO removes the inconvenience of passwords and out-of-band codes. Businesses can deploy the technology as a standalone, company identity platform, or integrate it to enable passwordless login to enterprise identity solutions from companies ranging from Microsoft to Google to Okta.

“We’ve engineered our solution to be fast, easy to use, scalable, and robust, ready to help you eliminate passwords – the primary target of cybercriminals,” Durkin said. He added that the solution was “ideal” for a variety of verticals including financial services, ecommerce, and IT.

Privakey is currently inviting companies interested in its technology to participate in its Privakey SSO Free Beta Test. The beta testing period runs from January 30, 2024 to May 31, 2024.

Headquartered in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and founded in 2016, Privakey made its Finovate debut at FinovateFall 2017 in New York. At the conference, the company demoed its cloud-based, password-free alternative to identity authentication that is consistent, convenient, and secure.

Privakey, bleu Join IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator’s 2020 Class

Privakey, bleu Join IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator’s 2020 Class

A pair of Finovate alums – Privakey and bleu – have earned spots in the 2020 class of the IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator. The program, launched this June, is dedicated to supporting innovative startups in both the fintech and healthtech industries. A total of 15 companies from nine countries were selected for the Accelerator’s incoming class.

Each participating startup will get up to $120,000 in IBM Cloud credits, an in-person workshop in the U.S., technical and business mentorship, and business value design assistance, as well as access to IBM’s network of partners, customers, and stakeholders. Startups will also work with program collaborators such as IBM Alpha Zone, Queen City Fintech, and MEDICI.

The IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator added that it will use IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Services powered by LinuxONE to ensure program startups have “the highest level of security, uptime, availability” as they innovate and scale their solutions.

Privakey demonstrated its cloud-based, identity and authentication service at FinovateFall 2017. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Privakey began the year with the release of the latest version of its Privakey CX solution. Last month, the company launched its PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) solution.

“Our PSD2 compliant solution is designed to eliminate what merchants fear most about SCA – shopping cart abandonment,” Privakey CEO Charlie Durkin said. “The customer experiences a transaction flow that is intuitive, simple, consistent, and contextual. Privakey eliminates out-of-band codes and other inconvenient authentication methods typically associated with SCA.”

Making its Finovate debut at FinovateFall 2015, bleu leverages low energy Bluetooth beacons to facilitate mobile transactions. A small wireless device sends a Bluetooth signal to a customer’s Bleu app when they enter a store. The beacon links the customer with the store and when the customer is ready to pay, they choose their preferred method of payment to automatically complete the transaction.

The Los Angeles, California-based company was founded in 2014. Sesie Bonsi is CEO.

Along with Privakey and bleu, the rest of the cohort is below:

  • Azaad Health (healthtech – Pakistan)
  • BioTrillion (healthtech – U.S.)
  • Cube Wealth (fintech – India)
  • encore (fintech – U.A.E./Pakistan)
  • Fostrum (fintech – Canada)
  • Galen Data (healthtech – U.S.)
  • Home Lending Pal (mortgagetech – U.S.)
  • MotionsCloud (insurtech – German)
  • My Allergy (healthtech – U.K.)
  • px pulse (healthtech – U.S./Pakistan)
  • Verge.Capital (fintech – Ireland)
  • Wayapay (fintech – Kenya)
  • Well Kept Beauty (healthtech – U.S.)

The startups selected for the Class of 2020 were chosen by an expert panel of peers from IBM and Queen City Fintech. The criteria used by the panelists included team, value proposition, mission, problem statement, vision, target market, business and economic model, and technical roadmap.

Privakey Launches Free Cloud Authentication Service

Privakey Launches Free Cloud Authentication Service

There’s no such thing as a free lunch– unless you’re a small company looking to eliminate passwords. That’s because digital identity service provider Privakey is making its cloud authentication service available for free, starting this week.

The Pennsylvania-based company is giving away one million authentications per month using its cloud-based technology. This means companies with low site volume will never be charged for the service, but have the option to upgrade to Privakey’s embedded technology.

Businesses can leverage Privakey’s cloud-based service to create a multi-factor login service on their website. To log into the site, end customers enter their email address, provide their PIN or their fingerprint as a biometric, and they are logged in. The same process works for onboarding new clients.

Founded in 2016, Privakey also offers Privakey CX, which is comprised of Mobile and Desktop Libraries and Request Origins, an authentication service that interacts with pre-existing processes. This service comes in handy for custom authorizations, such as a “yes” or “no” response from the client.

To get started with either service, companies can download Privakey’s iOS, Android, or Windows app and follow the OpenID Connect Protocol.

Privakey showcased its password-free authentication technology at FinovateFall 2017. Last month, One World Identity recognized the company as a top influencer in the identity sector. Privakey is self-funded by its parent company, Probaris Technologies, which has invested almost $4 million in the company. Charles Durkin is co-founder, president, and CEO.

20 Finovate Alums Earn Spots on One World Identity’s Top 100 Influencers List

20 Finovate Alums Earn Spots on One World Identity’s Top 100 Influencers List

When you think about it, what’s cooler than being named to a Who’s Who list in the world of digital identities?

One World Identity, an independent identity research and strategy company that specializes in cybersecurity, digital commerce, and risk management, published its roster of the Top 100 Influencers in Identity this week. This year, 20 Finovate alums made the cut. The individual influencers – as well as the companies they work for- are listed below.

As with last year’s roster, this year’s list was compiled by taking nominations submitted via Twitter, LinkedIn, and at oneworldidentity.com. The staff and advisory council for One World Identity whittled down the initial list of more than 1,000 nominees to a final 100.

One World Identity began as a project from a group of Google employees back in 2015. The company was officially launched the following year as a way to help spur innovation and collaboration in the field of digital identities. Travis Jarae is founder and CEO.
