Cash billpay service PayNearMe announced last week its Prism API is powering bill presentment for Quicken. By leveraging the Prism API, Quicken can provide its customers with real time bill and account visibility.

The Prism API also offers Quicken clients same-day bill payment capability for utilities, telecom providers, cable billers, and more. The integration has helped Quicken bring “thousands more” billers to its platform.

Daniel A. Chen, Quicken’s head of business development said Quicken selected Prism because it is “extremely developer friendly” and “the documentation is among the best I’ve seen.” Chen continued,

“Prism API enables us to better support our customers by providing them with real-time insight into future cash-flow needs and upcoming bill amounts. It also enables us to monitor changes in a biller’s service that may affect our customers before they are noticed. The automated monitoring means we are able to troubleshoot more quickly than the manual process we were using before.

PayNearMe began offering access to the Prism API after it acquired Prism Money in May of 2016. Visa was the first client to leverage the Prism API. The company helps enterprise customers offer bill presentment capabilities to their consumer-reloadable prepaid card clients.

Founded in 2009, PayNearMe enables consumers to pay bills using cash at 17,000+ 7-Eleven, Ace Cash Express, and Family Dollar retail stores across the U.S. by scanning a barcode on their smartphone. Most recently, the company partnered with Comcast to power cash payments for XFINITY clients. PayNearMe presented at FinovateSpring 2013 and at FinDEVr Silicon Valley 2014. The company has raised more than $71 million in funding. Danny Shader is CEO.

Quicken debuted Quicken Online at FinovateFall 2008 in New York. The company, once owned by Intuit, was acquired by H.I.G. Capital in April of 2016 for an undisclosed amount. Eric Dunn is Quicken CEO.

PayNearMe Powering Cash Payments for Comcast

PayNearMe Powering Cash Payments for Comcast

Screen Shot 2016-08-04 at 7.33.47 AM

Starting today, you can pay your Comcast bill in cash thanks to digital cash transaction network PayNearMe.

As an added feature on Comcast’s XFINITY My Account mobile app, PayNearMe increases the number of brick-and-mortar locations where Comcast consumers can pay their bills. The 5% of Comcast customers who prefer to pay in cash can still do so at 500 XFINITY stores and now have the option to pay at 7,700+ participating 7-Eleven stores, most of which stay open 24/7. There is no word yet when payments can be made at PayNearMe’s other partnering franchises, Family Dollar and Ace Cash Express.

Users simply select the Cash via PayNearMe option in the mobile app, which presents them with a barcode to scan in-store at 7-Eleven and XFINITY for a $1.25 fee. Payment is credited to the user’s account within 48 hours of the transaction.

The new partnership adds to the 17,000 billers, including AAA, AT&T, and Toyota Financial Services, that accept cash payments via PayNearMe.

Founded in 2009, PayNearMe enables consumers to pay bills using cash at 17,000+ 7-Eleven, Ace Cash Express, and Family Dollar retail stores across the U.S. by scanning a barcode on their smartphone. Most recently, the company acquired financial management and billpay app Prism Money to empower enterprise clients with a customized bill presentment app. In April, the company partnered with the Internal Revenue Service to allow underbanked consumers to pay their taxes in cash. It also struck a deal with Dallas Area Rapid Transit to facilitate bus fare purchases on its platform.

PayNearMe presented at FinovateSpring 2013 and at FinDEVr San Francisco 2014. The company plans to continue expanding its flagship cash-payment service by increasing retail partnerships.

Digital cash payment service PayNearMe today announced it has acquired financial management and billpay app Prism Money. PayNearMe will leverage Prism Money’s billpay and ACH/card payment capabilities to offer enterprise clients a bill presentment API integration.

The California-based company’s founder and CEO Danny Shader says that Prism enables it to offer government agencies, banks, and businesses “a menu of bill presentment and payment capabilities” that can be customized for the end customer.

As a result of the partnership, Visa (FinDEVr San Francisco 2014 presenter) will offer the new bill-presentment capabilities to its enterprise customers and will add it to the Visa prepaid, consumer-reloadable cards. Tony Chang, VP of prepaid product at Visa, says Visa prepaid card providers “can now easily integrate bill presentment and same-day bill payment into their existing apps, making it easier than ever for Visa prepaid cardholders to pay bills immediately when they receive wages onto their prepaid cards.”

Founded in 2009, PayNearMe enables consumers to pay bills using cash at 17,000+ retail stores across the U.S. by scanning a barcode on their smartphone. Most recently, the company partnered with the Internal Revenue Service to allow underbanked consumers to pay their taxes in cash.
