Digital Banking Software Provider ieDigital Acquires U.S.-Based Connect FSS

Digital Banking Software Provider ieDigital Acquires U.S.-Based Connect FSS
  • ieDigital, a digital banking software company based in the U.K., has acquired U.S.-based digital banking technology company Connect FSS.
  • Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
  • ieDigital made its Finovate debut at FinovateFall in 2018.

U.K.-based digital banking software company ieDigital announced a major acquisition this week. The firm will acquire its U.S.-based counterpart, digital banking technology company, Connect FSS. Terms of the transaction were not immediately available, but the deal will make ieDigital one of the biggest digital banking software providers in the world.

The acquisition comes at the end of ieDigital’s multi-month search for a business partner that would help the company meet its growth goals, especially with regard to increasing ieDigital’s international reach. The company noted in a statement that the acquisition will bring greater scale and more resources to bear on the challenges facing business customers. The acquisition will also help accelerate innovation as teams from both companies begin to collaborate and work together to design and market new, enhanced digital solutions.

“Joining forces with Connect FSS will enable us to support a broader range of customers in different geographies that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to reach, and strengthen our technology with insight from our new colleagues in the U.S.,” ieDigital CEO Jerry Young said. Connect FSS President and CEO Grant Parry added that the partnership with a “natural next step” in Connect FSS’s evolution. “Our joint ambition is to provide excellent customer service and tailored solutions to clients,” Parry said.

For now, both ieDigital and Connect FSS will retain their brand identities in their respective markets. The firms will sit as part of a new ieDigital Group in which ieDigital’s Young will serve as CEO while Connect FSS’s Parry will serve as EVP of Strategy.

Founded in 1984, ieDigital made its Finovate debut at FinovateFall 2018. At the conference, the company demoed its Money Fitness solution which helps users better manage their day-to-day finances. In the years since, the company has grown into a major fintech in the U.K. financial services ecosystem. ieDigital has partnered with four of the five largest banks in the U.K., and has provided digital software solutions to more than 50 financial services businesses.

This spring, ieDigital announced that Suffolk Building Society has chosen the company as its partner for its eSavings platform. The offering will give Society members access to online savings products and will be powered by ieDigital’s Interact software. Interact is a suite of digital services that work in concert with a financial services provider’s existing technology.

ieDigital Announces Strategic Partnership with OutSystems

ieDigital Announces Strategic Partnership with OutSystems

One month after introducing its next generation development application platform, OutSystems has announced that it is entering a strategic partnership with fellow Finovate alum ieDigital. The alliance will enable ieDigital’s financial services company partners – ranging from bank to mortgage lenders – to access a suite of pre-built, low-code applications that support a variety of operations including originations, self-servicing, retention, and collections.

The goal of the new relationship is to give financial service providers new resources that will help accelerate growth, become more cost-efficient, and better manage risk. The partnership also allows for additional functionalities to be added as part of broader, future digital transformation efforts. One example of this would be enabling companies to analyze data collected during the completion of online applications for a new financial product or service.

“By pioneering the low-code market and having a vision to transform how enterprise software is delivered,” ieDigital Commercial Director Garry Larner said, “the OutSystems platform perfectly complements our existing product-offering. We look forward to working alongside them to continue delivering market-leading financial technology that makes a real impact to all that use it.”

ieDigital noted that the partnership will leverage and further build upon the Interact Application Suite, an approach ieDigital used in a previous collaboration with Cambridge & Counties Bank to help the firm combat financial crime. The result was a more streamlined customer onboarding process, enhanced automation for both middle and back office workers, and better capacity and knowledge to support the development of applications going forward – including an option for Cambridge & Counties Bank to build its own in-house development capability.

Founded in 1984 and headquartered in London, U.K., ieDigital demonstrated its Money Fitness solution at FinovateFall 2018. The technology helps credit unions effectively compete with the wave of competition from “digital-first” providers with a forward-looking personalized service that credit union members can use to better manage their day-to-day finances, make better financial decisions, and improve their overall financial health.

More recently, ieDigital launched its customer retention solution Interact Switch, which is designed to help mortgage lenders retain customers at product offer maturity. The technology enables mortgage lenders to function more efficiently by cutting down on paper-based, mortgage representative, and third-party costs. Also this fall, ieDigital announced a partnership with Darlington Building Society and a collaboration with DF Capital to help the savings and commercial lending bank to launch a new digital interactive channel for its savings customers.

An alum of our developers conference, FinDEVr NewYork 2017, Boston, Massachusetts OutSystems specializes in cloud-native, low-code app development. More than 14 million people currently use OutSystems’s platform to build solutions such as mobile apps and consumer websites, as well as extensions of core systems from Microsoft and Salesforce. The latest platform edition from the company, code named Project Neo, marries the productivity benefits of visual, model-based development with state-of-the-art container- and Kubernetes-based cloud architecture. The technology is hosted on Amazon Web Services to make it easy for any company to build customized, cloud-based apps that scale globally and can be continuously updated.

“Developers should be the artisans of innovation in their organization, but they are mired in complexity that stifles their ability to innovative and differentiate,” OutSystems CEO Paulo Rosado said. “Instead of using their talents to fix, change, and maintain code and aging systems, you can give them industry-leading tools that unleash their creativity on your business, and achieve massive competitive advantage.”

Five Degrees Teams Up with ieDigital to Launch Digital Banking Portfolio

Five Degrees Teams Up with ieDigital to Launch Digital Banking Portfolio

A new partnership between U.K.-based ieDigital and Dutch fintech Five Degrees will pave the way for the launch of a new premier digital banking portfolio. The new solution marries ieDigital’s Interact digital engagement platform with Five Degrees’ digital core banking platform, Matrix, to help FIs develop end-to-end banking products that will help them spot and capitalize on revenue-generating opportunities.

“Our joint partnership strengthens the ability to help financial institutions transform progressively in order to meet future market needs, while ensuring a superior customer experience,” ieDigital CEO Jerry Young said. He called the collaboration with Five Degrees both “strategic and timely” and pointed to potential opportunities to help banks in Europe and around the world successfully execute their digital transformations.

Young joined the company as CEO at the beginning of the year. He brings more than 20 years of experience to ieDigital, including a tenure as VP of EMEA at Fiserv, and time spent as head of retail banking and insurance at Oracle.

Five Degrees CEO Martijn Hohmann said that the joint venture “provides financial institutions with the tools to offer a better experience for consumers when managing their finances on a daily basis.” He added that the partnership would add “world-class consumer oriented solutions” to its platform and help the company fulfill its goal of making it easier and more convenient for consumers to choose and interact with financial products.

In their press release, ieDigital and Five Degrees cited a Forrester study that indicated that too many financial services firms are focusing on making changes to their digital front end without paying similar attention to the core system. Referring to this as the “Potemkin Effect,” the companies noted that by offering a solution that combines the core with the engagement platform resolves this problem by providing a “seamless, digital, end-to-end experience that customers require.”

Founded in 1984, ieDigital demonstrated its Money Fitness solution at FinovateFall 2018. Money Fitness is a personalized, forward-looking PFM tool that helps consumers make better financial decisions while helping credit unions build their brands and strengthen their presence in their local communities. Formerly known as Intelligent Environments, ieDigital has partnered with four of the five largest banks in the U.K. and has deployed its Interact customer engagement platform in more than 28 countries.

With more than $11.4 million (€10 million) in funding, Five Degrees made its most recent Finovate appearance earlier this year at FinovateEurope. At the conference, the company demonstrated an implementation of its Matrix core banking technology with the wealth management platform, Prospery, developed by ABN AMRO.

Since then, Five Degrees purchased core banking IT systems provider, Libra, and teamed up with international business payments specialist, BillPro, to launch a new European cross-border banking service. The company was founded in 2009, and is headquartered in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, the Netherlands.

Intelligent Environments Rebrands as ieDigital

Intelligent Environments Rebrands as ieDigital

Reflecting what the company calls its “core digital capabilities” and desire for international expansion, London, U.K.-based automation technology innovator Intelligent Environments has rebranded as ieDigital.

“As a leading fintech business with global ambitions, it’s important that our brand travels as well as our expertise,” said Jeremy Young, who joined the company as CEO at the beginning of the year. “We feel the new brand brings our visual identity right up to date, is more versatile and altogether more digital. The name is also much better aligned with our core business, and easier for customers and colleagues across all territories to pronounce, which is incredibly important.”

From its origins as one of the leading home automation specialists in the U.K., the company has since grown to become a financial services technology provider to a growing number of major financial institutions. These clients include Bank of Ireland U.K., The Generali Group, Home Retail Group, HSBC, Ikano, and Lloyds Banking Group.

As Intelligent Environments, the company demonstrated its Interact Collect solution at FinovateEurope earlier this year. A component of its Interact digital engagement platform, Collect gives organizations an approach to consumer debt collection that is low stress, non-confrontational, and digital-first. An intuitive interface and omni-channel access combines with a self-service-oriented user experience to raise repayment rates, lower costs, and improve customer relationships. The technology enabled the company to take home Best Collections Technology honors at the 2017 CCS Awards back in November.

In addition to Collect, the Interact platform offers Interact Acquire, a customer acquisition solution with comprehensive data capture and cross-device support to keep costs low and boost completion rates; and Interact Connect, a customer loyalty and engagement solution.
